The ideological challenge of criminal culture to civil society can be summed up in the presumption of innocence of criminals. The Italian criminal consider himself innocent:
●because he had no escape from the most powerful criminals;
●because he had no other way to survive;
●because everyone does evil;
●because if he have done not evil, sooner or later someone would have done evil against him;
●finally because acting righteously is stupid because it involves risks and sacrifices.
There is no way to effectively complain against this last option, which shows all the cowardice of the criminal.
Perhaps it has always been this way. One proof is that the young bully behaves exactly like the older criminal.
The disconcerting issue is that today in Italy these arguments have infected the institutional walls.
What could be the remedy to try in order not to declare a forfeit to the mafia culture?
